I Was Wondering ...

... Why the 1920s - 1930s fascinate me ?

When I go through the Fashion History Timeline, the old pictures, movies and my memories about the talks I had with some of my elderly relatives, I realise that I have a sort of connection with those times.

The 20's were preceded by the opulent 'Belle Époque', by a pandemic and by a World War. Despite of financial crash in 1929, it sounds that a light and charming version of the life came out in the 20's, what also reflected the Fashion Design at that time. Comfort, audacity and simplicity were combined with the elegance. Both the masculine and feminine 'dress up', and the 'hair styling' look plenty of natural elegance, without the heavy excesses of the Belle Époque.

It was a time of many limitations, in comparision to the nowadays, but it was also a time of much innovation and "revolution". Women with new roles at society. Innovations and advances on Technologies, aid of Electricity, on Communications, on rapid Transportations, on Medicines. Influences of the Mordenist art movements and Art Deco Design on Arts and Architecture. Jazz and Blues on Music, and the Talking Movies.

All of that said above is what I meant with being connected to the 20's.
