The renowned erudite composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, born in Brazil in 1887, loved Bach's music as much as he loved the brazilian popular rythms, and somehow, concerning his own music, he made a fusion among the classical and the popular rythms from Brazil. An innovation that was not well received by the conservatives at the beginning. One who has not yet been introduced to Villa-Lobos' music, it would be fine to listen "Bachianas Brasileiras" (they are nine, the 5th is my favourite), and "Melodia Sentimental", a touching music composed by him, with lyrics by Dora Vasconcelos. Melodia Sentimental is originally composed to be sung as lyrical music, however I have already listened it on other very different rythms, like the portuguese fado, and even a fusion between Jazz and Bolero.
