White Camellia

THE FLOWER OF CHANEL

Camellia plant is native to Asia. This plant mostly grows in China. Their samples were taken to Europe by the Portugueses at the Mercantilism era.

Coco Chanel was often seen wearing a white camellia pin, and the white camellia turned one of her icons and also inspiration to the creation of her collections of accessories and high-jewellery.

She used to say it was the simplicity of the white camellia that first seduced her."To the opulence of a rose, she preferred its sobriety, its almost geometric roundedness and the classic ordering of its petals in a perfect symmetry" (by Maison Chanel).
